What’s PADI Wreck Diver Specialty?
The PADI Wreck Diver Specialty is all about diving into the fascinating world of shipwrecks. If you’ve ever been curious about exploring these underwater time capsules, this course is perfect for you. You’ll learn how to dive safely around and inside wrecks and how to plan your dives to avoid any potential hazards. The course covers 3 aspects of wreck exploration:
- Planning your wreck dives – How to safely approach a wreck dive, taking into account things like depth, current, and visibility.
- Entering and navigating wreck safely – Learn the techniques on how to enter and explore safely, especially how to control your buoyancy in tight spaces and avoid disturbing the silts.
- Recognizing hazards in wreck diving – Wrecks can be tricky places with tight spaces and hidden dangers, so we’ll go over how to spot risks like entanglements or sharp objects and how to handle them.
It’s a really fun way to deepen your diving knowledge and add a little adventure to your dives while ensuring you do it all safely!
Why should you do PADI Wreck Diver Specialty in Koh Tao?
Koh Tao is an absolutely perfect place to take the PADI Wreck Diver Specialty. The island is home to a variety of fantastic wreck sites, including the HTMS Sattakut, a purpose-sunk military vessel, and also a newly sunk wreck: HTMS Suphairin. Since both of these wrecks are not far off shore, it’s an ideal environment for learning the essential skills needed for wreck diving.
The warm and clear waters around Koh Tao are a big advantage. With excellent visibility, navigating wrecks becomes much easier, and the comfortable water temperatures allow for longer, more enjoyable dives. Nava Scuba Diving is one of the best dive centers in Koh Tao that specializes in wreck diving. We have instructors with expert knowledge of local wreck sites, ensuring you’ll get top-notch training while staying safe throughout your dives.
The variety of dive experiences on the island is another reason why Koh Tao is great for wreck diving. Whether you’re a beginner or looking to explore more advanced wrecks, the island offers sites catering to all skill levels. For instance, you can explore HTMS Sattakut, which is shallower and more beginner-friendly. But if you want a challenge and a deeper wreck, you can always dive at HTMS Suphairin wreck.
